My transcript is based on a video I made with Mark, Alex and Soren. There are many features that aren’t used in writing that are used in the video. These are called paralinguistic and linguistic features.
In my transcript, Alex makes a noise that I described as filler (line 7). I wrote this as “MAAAAAHHHHHH!” I wrote it like this because I couldn’t tell what he meant from it in the conversation. But after analysing the video and transcribing it i thought that he made the noise to try and attract the attention that was on Mark while he was speaking. This suggests that Mark was dominant during the conversation because he talked the most and had the most input. However I think that Alex tried subconsciously, to become the dominant one, but he had nothing to say, therefore making the filler noise, leading to attracting everyone’s attention. The facial expression also adds comedy to his input into the conversation that is also great for attracting attention.
Towards the end of the transcript, Mark mentions 42 when describing life. Both Alex and I understood what he meant by it and we showed it by repeating what he said. The repetition suggests that while the audience may not know what we are talking about, the people in the conversation are on the same level, which indicates that Mark is not talking nonsense. This repetition and understanding represents that Mark, Alex and I are good friends and that we have known each other for a long time because we can relate to each other about something so obscure and that not many other people will know about.

Where this is leading is to your being able to discuss, in specific reference to your chosen transcripts, the movement of language features between the two forms of communication and, most importantly, why you believe these movements occur.
You will be writing about how the text message and spoken language of London youth is creative and effective.
This will be done by demonstrating a subtle understanding of the purpose and effect of the various devices you identify when it comes to enhancing, enriching and adding nuance to the communication that occurs.
